DEVELOP3D Live 2013 turned out to be a veritable hive of activity last Tuesday, April 16 at the Warwick Arts Centre. This free event explores the future of three-dimensional product development technology, tools and strategies. The place was packed, especially at lunch time when all the delegates piled out of the conference rooms and into the various exhibition areas where food was served.

In addition to four conference streams and an exhibition, Ansys and Siemens PLM software had separate demonstration areas, while Dell was giving discounts up to 32 per cent on workstations. The show also provided an opportunity to test drive Siemens NX and Solid Edge CAD software, as well as Ansys tutorial workshops for engineering simulation.

The success of the show was predicated last month when the organisers of DEVELOP3D Live 2013 announced that the exhibition space was now sold out. Over 50 firms, spanning four exhibition spaces, showcased the very latest in product development technology.

There were live demonstrations of 3D modelling, 3D printing, laser scanning, simulation, workstation hardware, rendering, reverse engineering, Product Data Management (PDM), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and manufacturing technology.

And now for this week’s media moves:

Excel Publishing has appointed Peter Baber as editor of Builder & Engineer, a bi-monthly print and online magazine, to succeed Andy Jowett. Barber, who joined the title this month, will introduce regular sections including health and safety, training, events, plus special features.

PrintWeek, previously owned by Haymarket Media, will be relaunched as a fortnightly magazine by Mark Allen Group. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of April, at which time the PrintWeek team will relocate to Mark Allen’s head office in St Jude’s Church in Herne Hill, South East London.

Wishing you all a warm and pleasant weekend.
