Newly chartered PR calls for wider industry uptake

Stone Junction now boasts two chartered PR practitioners. chartered public relations | chartered PR

Midlands PR agency, Stone Junction, is celebrating after senior account executive Zafar Jamati achieved chartered status. In the wake of the achievement, the agency has called for more practitioners to do the same, to help counter the perception that the industry is unregulated.

Awarded by the Chartered Institute of PR, chartered status demonstrates an individual’s commitment to professionalism in PR practice as well as Stone Junction’s unswerving dedication to the industry.

Specialising in technical PR, engineering PR and technology PR, Stone Junction believes that providing evidence of the company’s credibility, through accreditation or chartership, is an essential part of demonstrating its integrity and authority. For this reason, Stone Junction encourages all its employees to invest in the CIPR’s continual professional development (CPD) programme.

The CIPR grants chartered status to practitioners that have demonstrated a commitment for CPD as well as awareness and experience in three key areas; strategy, leadership and ethics.

Jamati is the second member of Stone Junction to achieve chartered status, alongside the agency’s managing director, Richard Stone.

“Most people in business don’t realise that PR practitioners can charter or should be chartered,” explained Jamati. “They understand that a civil engineer should be chartered, that an accountant should be chartered and that a marketer can charter through the CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) but it’s rare to see understanding that a PR person should also hold this status.

“This new achievement, alongside our ISO9001 accreditation and CIPR corporate affiliate status, demonstrates that Stone Junction is serious about delivering the highest quality of work to generate results without compromising our own integrity, or that of our clients,” he continued.

“Having been a member of the CIPR for four years, I believe it’s important that every practitioner in the industry works towards becoming chartered. Raising standards and demonstrating that our work meets the principles outlined by official bodies like the CIPR, is the only way we can prove that the industry is regulated and trustworthy.”

Over half of the employees at Stone Junction are members of the CIPR, including four accredited practitioners and four full members, in addition to Jamati and Stone.
