What’s PR agency life like at Stone Junction?

Shared values, shared goals

What does company culture mean to you? We’re not talking about early finish Fridays, medical cover and paid charity time. While we offer all of these things (see our plethora of company benefits), to us, company culture starts with looking after each individual — it’s an attitude, it’s shared values and shared goals.

We’re intentional about our shared company values, which anchor us in everything we do. In fact, we developed our company values during a collaborative team meeting and they’ve become key decision making tools that help guide our business. Ultimately, we’re people-focused first.

Our team of STEM, language and communications experts is passionate, energetic and vibrant. This, combined with the agency’s fast paced yet supportive environment, means we create capable collaborative teams that flourish. Every member of the team also receives awesome training in PR and digital marketing.

Empowering

each individual to succeed

At Stone Junction, we believe that people who have an excellent work-life balance feel fulfilled and have the capacity to be exceptional at what they do.

Across our three offices in Stafford, UK, Munich, Germany and Oradea, Romania, we’ve created an environment where our talented technical team can be happy, develop useful skills and feel professionally successful. This foundation allows us to deliver outstanding and often award-winning science and engineering campaigns for multiple clients. If we want something, we go and get it.

From our PR assistants to our managing director, we’re passionate about STEM. Whether we’re chatting about the latest AI trends in the corridor or discussing the latest Nobel Prize winners over lunch, if you want to work with clients who lead the conversation at the forefront of technical and scientific innovation, Stone Junction is the place for you.

We make PR career progression simple and put it in the hands of each and every individual. Stone Junction’s clearly defined SMART objectives system means that career progression is clear, fair and achievable. These are measured numerically, and identical for each member of the team working at the same level, to avoid subjective judgement. In fact, our account directors all joined Stone Junction in junior roles and they’ve chosen to stick around, so we must be doing something right.

Wellbeing

at the core of everything we do

We’re firm believers that people deserve to be happy and treated well. We value our employees as people and in 2021, we won the best staff wellbeing initiative at the CIPR Midlands Pride Awards.

As well as mental health drop-in hours, virtual PT sessions and duvet days, fundamentally we’re a team that celebrates successes, shares interests and learns from one another.

Our hybrid working model blends the flexibility of working from home with valuable time in one of our social office spaces. The team spends a minimum of two days a week in the office, but we find that most people actually opt to come in more.

We actively help our team maintain a positive work life balance, through health and wellbeing initiatives, continued professional development and looking out for each other day to day. Our monthly social also gives us the opportunity to get together as friends, while supporting some great local businesses — think bowling, curry nights and pizza parties.

A diverse and inclusive culture

At Stone Junction, everyone’s voice matters. We’re committed to the principle of equal pay for like for like or broadly similar work for our staff, irrespective of age, sex or ethnic origin or any other protected characteristic.

Here are some of the things we are doing to promote inclusivity and diversity in the marketing and PR agency world:

  • Members of our senior team are mentors for the Taylor Bennet Foundation — a charity that exists to encourage people from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds to pursue a career in communications
  • A transparent pay structure
  • Where possible we apply the ‘Rooney Rule’ when shortlisting applicants during recruitment
  • Shared parental leave policy and enhanced maternity leave policy

We’ve proven that if you lead with a positive, diverse and inclusive company culture, momentum follows. If you want to work at an award-winning tech PR agency that is genuinely committed to its people check out our current vacancies or e-mail sayhello@stonejunction.co.uk and, well, say hello.
